PRE-OWNED. GREAT CONDITION.
This is a great piece of Hotel China from The Indian Queen Hotel in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. It is a small oval plate or platter in white and putty with an ornamental border and the Hotel name Indian Queen. The back is embossed "Greenwood China Trenton N.J."
Platter is in great condition - no chips, cracks or crazing. It measures roughly 6 7/8" x 4 1/4".
A BIT OF HISTORY: Located at 814 Main Street, Stroudsburg, Penn., the Indian Queen Hotel was built in 1843 as the private residence of John Witchel. The home was converted to a hotel in the 1870s.
Before it was demolished in the late 1960s, the hotel served as housing for students of the East Stroudsburg State College (now the East Stroudsburg University). A bank and parking lot occupy the site today.
